Giving Up for Lent

21 02 2014

After some careful reflection I have decided to have a break from preparing these weekly sermon starters.

If you would like to continue to receive some spiritual support from my work in this medium, you might like to check out the Big Read 14 website

There is heaps of material there, all based on my book ‘Barefoot Prayers: A Meditation a Day for Lent and Easter’ which is available at both real and online bookshops.

Thank you for using Sermon Starters.  They have been a joy to produce but for various reasons break is the right thing at the moment.

PS Should a reader wish to pick up the baton/mantle and be prepared to produce and publish Sermon Starters each week for six months or so I will be delighted. Just let me know.

Just wanted to say how much I apprecitated them and how good they were.

I don’t know you personally, but have greatly appreciated your words of wisdom, as I plug away in my parish in south London.

Thanks so much Sheridan, this sort of feedback means a lot. Keep plugging!

I don’t suppose you’d be interested in doing a month of SSs sometime? If we could get a team going it would be more sustaianble.

Thank you. Your sermon starters have been a great help to provoke thought and have been used in a number of ways .

Yours gratefully

I cannot say that the sermon starters have “done what it said on the tin” as I preach few sermons ….. but their value has been very personal in focusing thought within my own spiritual life. I appreciate all the effort and wisdom you have brought to bear on these weekly missives ……. and hope any “downtime” will feed/nourish you as you have helped me. Thank you

Dear Stephen,

I think you are entitled to a break from this weekly discipline! Thank you for all the work which you have put into this. I am quite sure that, over the next few years, I shall keep coming back to the questions which you have raised in these weekly reflections. I need all the help I can get and this has been invaluable.

With best wishes,

Paul Regan
