9th Sunday after Trinity – Matthew 15: [10-20] 21-28 – Sunday 17th August 2014
Need to Know
1. Why might these first eleven verses be optional? Surely what defiles or shames in 2014 is definitely worth exploring!
2. In your area what routines are people engaging in which can be perceived as being defiling/shaming and hence prevents people seeking God?
3. Who are our ‘untouchables’ or consider themselves ‘untouchables’?

Need to Challenge
1. Huge obesity is not a defiling state. Anorexia is not a defiling state. How can we welcome all comers always as they are?
2. Being unemployed or homeless is not a defiling state. How can we genuinely care for all comers?
3. Having a chaotic life style is not a defiling state. How can we welcome all comers whether haphazard attenders or have timing issues?

Need to Comfort
1.But she came and knelt before him saying, ‘Lord, help me.’ What other three word prayers might we use today?
2.This woman is cheeky and persistent. What area requires our cheek and persistence?
3. She’s not my problem. When was the last time we thought this? Our Lord does have mercy!
